This document aims to share with you all the great new features of moving from V2 to Connect. NOTE: If your district has created custom dashboards, not all the containers may be present. Please contact your customer support representative at support@schooldata.net.

Key Improvements and Design

  • Direct and Visible Access: Emphasizing ease of finding and using features.
  • Streamlined Workflows: Making actions more intuitive with clickable elements and better page organization.
  • Centralized Management: Consolidating functions for better usability.
  • Enhanced Information Display: Improving the presentation of data for easier review.
  • Data Accessibility: Users in all roles will have access to relevant data in various formats, such as reports, data tables, and charts, directly within the Data Extracts section in the left navigation menu.

Specific Changes

  1. Login Location:  (your district).schooldata.net/connect/#/homeroom
  2. Application Navigation: Click the Site Navigation button (person holding a map icon) next to the SchoolData.net logo in the upper left. In the new modal, click the application bundle, select the application, select the user role, and then click Launch to be taken to your Home—Getting Started page.

  1. The User Settings and Options Menu (My Account, Account Settings, Screen Settings) remains in the top right, with a few modifications. (e.g., Application Navigation and Content Menus can be collapsed - discussed later on.)

  1. Help:

    • Self-Directed Learning: Click the Self-Directed Learning logo in the bottom left corner, select the Application/Role, and then click Task to view the task instructions.

    • Our Help Desk (life preserver icon) is still available in the right-hand corner, as before, featuring our Help Center, Request Help, and View My Requests, just as you had in V2. But now adding the Training & Support Calendar.

    • Additional page guidance has been added directly to many module pages and can be expanded or hidden as needed by clicking the arrow button in the bottom-right corner. This may also be set in Manage My Account >> Always Display Content Menus.

  2. Dashboard Role and Dashboard Selection:

    • Users operate in one role at a time. The role with the most granular permissions is automatically selected for you. Once a role is selected, only the pages and features accessible to that role will be displayed. The role can now be changed quickly in the left navigation menu dropdown menu if needed.

    • Some Dashboards contain data related to you, the user (User-centric), while others contain data about other people or entities, such as another teacher or a school (Other-centric).

      1. In the Left Navigation menu, select the dashboard you want to set as your default. You can also select other favorite dashboards. (Dashboards > All Dashboards, My Favorite Dashboards) The dashboard changes will be retained until cleared.

      1. Locate and open your default dashboard at any time by navigating to My Default Dashboard in the left navigation menu.
      2. Change your dashboard selection at any time by clicking "Switch" next to the dashboard title.
      3. Click School District in the left navigation to go directly to the School District Dashboard.
  3. Modal Overlay: When content is clicked to view, a modal (popover Window) will appear. In the top right, click the “X” to close the window and return to where you left off, or click the “Open in new window” icon to open it in a new tab.

  1. Change Dashboard Data Settings: Click Edit near the dashboard title or in the top-right colored info boxes to edit your page data settings. Numerous filters are available, including school year (student enrollment), school years (student data), schools, students, and student groups. In the top-right corner, you can easily view the page data parameters you set. (Student Count, Data Date, Enrollment Date).

  1. NEW Subpage (Tab Menu): A Tab Menu at the top of many pages makes it easy to navigate subpages. Click on a name from the dropdown menu to jump directly to that area. Click the Arrow icon to view further embedded pages.

  1. View Toolbar: The top-right corner of all views includes additional icons for hiding and showing columns, downloading, expanding, and more.
