📈 Homeroom Dashboards Student Growth Dashboard (Connect)

Here, you can view insights into Student Growth (Performance Level Change (PLC) between two assessments in ELA/Literacy and Mathematics in two Student Data Years selected from the page data settings. 

Key Points

• Standardized Comparison: This score converts raw assessment scores into performance levels for easier comparison.
• Precise Placement: It shows a student’s exact position within a performance level’s range. (e.g., a score of 2.5 means the student is halfway between Level 2 and Level 3).
• Versatile Analysis: PLS is a flexible metric that can analyze and compare student assessment data, even when the underlying tests use different scoring methods.

Other Use Ideas

• Program Evaluation: Update the Edit Page Data Settings to filter to a program (e.g., Special Education, Gifted). Review the change by level data. Use the legend to turn on or off various data points in the chart.

Three chart views are available: Scatter Plots, PLS Change by Level, and PLS Change by Range.

1. Start under the School District Dashboard in the left navigation menu.
2. You will see the School District Dashboard. Click the Switch button above the School District Title and select Student Growth from the list.

3. Use the Edit Page Data Settings button next to the District Title to ensure multiple years of data are available; otherwise, the charts will not display. NOTE: Consider which data years you want to use to obtain the student growth results.
   • Click the School Years (Student Data) field and select at least two different school years to view student growth by clicking the checkbox to the left, and then click Accept.
4. Click View Dashboard. 

5. You will see two tabs across the top of the page: State Assessments and Configure. 

Scatter Plots

Here, you will learn how to view Student Growth (Performance Level Change) insights between two assessments for SBA Summative ELA/Literacy or Mathematics.

1. Click the State Assessments tab and choose ELA/Literacy or Math Scatter Plots from the dropdown menu.
2. Under Chart Data Settings to the far left, the First and Second Assessment Test Guide is automatically selected. 
3. You can close the Chart Data Settings by clicking the Data Settings icon to the right of the chart and selecting Close Data Settings. You can also return to the Data Settings icon at any time to reopen it.
4. You will see various grade-level screen selections across the top of the container. (Gr3 to 4, Gr 4 to 5, Gr 5 to 6, Gr 6 to 7, Gr 7 to 8, Gr 8 to 10)
5. You will see a chart with color-coded performance-level lines and individual student plot points. 
   • Hover over each plot point to reveal detailed information.
   • Click the plot point to open the Student Dashboard.

PLS Change By Level

Here, you will learn how to view Student Growth with Performance Level Scores (PLS) change by level between two SBA Summative ELA/Literacy or Mathematics assessments.

1. Click the State Assessments tab and choose ELA/Literacy or Math PLS Change by Level from the dropdown menu.
2. Under Chart Data Settings, to the far left, the First and Second Assessment Test Guide is automatically selected. 
3. You may fill in the Minimum Change field numerically to alter the chart. This will change the default to gray (zero), which signifies students who have made no change. NOTE: Changes may be significant; we recommend starting with small increments.
4. You can close the Chart Data Settings by clicking the Data Settings icon to the right of the chart and selecting Close Data Settings. You can also return to the Data Settings icon at any time to reopen it.
5. Across the top of the container, you will see various grade-level screen selections. (Gr3 to 4, Gr 4 to 5, Gr 5 to 6, Gr 6 to 7, Gr 7 to 8, Gr 8 to 10)
6. You will see a chart with color-coded performance level scores and student growth.
   • Hover over each bar to reveal detailed information.
   • Click the bar to view a list of included students.

PLS Change by Range

Here, you will learn how to view Student Growth with Performance Level Scores (PLS), which change according to the range between two SBA Summative ELA/Literacy or Mathematics assessments.

1. Click the State Assessments tab and choose ELA/Literacy or Math PLS Change by Level from the dropdown menu.
2. Under Chart Data Settings to the far left, the First and Second Assessment Test Guide is automatically selected. 
3. You may fill in the Range Increment field numerically to alter the chart. 
4. You can close the Chart Data Settings by clicking the Data Settings icon to the right of the chart and selecting Close Data Settings. You can also return to the Data Settings icon at any time to reopen it.
5. Across the top of the container, you will see various grade-level screen selections. (Gr3 to 4, Gr 4 to 5, Gr 5 to 6, Gr 6 to 7, Gr 7 to 8, Gr 8 to 10)
6. You will see a chart with color-coded performance-level scores and student counts.
   • Hover over each bar to reveal detailed information.
   • Click the bar to view a list of included students.

Configure By Assessment

Here, you can configure your Student Growth Performance Level Change (PLC) between your two assessments. Three chart views are available: Scatter Plot, PLS Change By Level, and PLS Change by Range.

1. Click the Configure tab and choose Configure by Assessment.
2. You will see screen selections at the top of the container that allow you to create various charts (PLS Change Scatter Plot, PLS Change by Level, and PLS Change by Range).
3. Under Chart Data Settings, to the far left, click the First Assessment Test ID field and the checkbox to the far left of the chosen assessment test name.
4. Select the Second Assessment Test ID field in the same manner. NOTE: Assessments must have the same performance levels for this comparison. Confirm the exact benchmarks for each assessment being measured.
   • In the PLS Change by Level screen view, you may fill in the Minimum Change field numerically to alter the chart. 
   • In the PLS Change by Range screen view, you may fill the Range Increment field numerically to alter the chart. 
5. You can close the Chart Data Settings by clicking the Data Settings icon to the right of the chart and selecting Close Data Settings. You can also return to the Data Settings icon at any time to reopen it.
6. You will see a chart with color-coded performance-level scores.
   • Hover over each bar to reveal detailed information.
   • Click the bar to view a list of included students.

7. NOTE: You may also access these charts by starting under Assessment Tests in the left navigation menu and choosing Student Growth.
