Here, you will learn how to monitor student residency and track movement as students enter or exit your district. Please note that these reports are currently limited to specific states who make migration data publicly available such as Texas, Illinois, and Michigan.
- In the My Apps drawer to the left or at the bottom of the Munetrix Homepage, click the Student Migration Map icon.
- You will see various subpages (tabs) across the top of the page.
Click the Reports tab.
- Click the β+β icon to the far left to expand the Student Reports.
Residency Trends: This chart shows a Yearly Student Migration Analysis. This visualization tracks the flow of students (FTE or headcount) entering or leaving the district.
- Use the data settings on the far right to filter by Residency Status (refer to the definitions below the chart), Year, and Direction (Incoming is green and Outgoing is red).
Note: Residency Status selections may differ per state. - Utilize the sidebar and footer utilities to modify, print, and share your display.

- Trends Chart: This chart will show Student Migration Trends (FTE/Enrollment).
- Filter the data by Activity Type.
- Select Print in the top-right corner to generate a copy.
- Hover over any bar or data point for detailed information.
- Legend:
- Outgoing: Red
- Incoming: Green
- Overall FTE: Blue
- Refer to the βWhy it Matters,β βData Source,β and Data Table sections located below the chart.
- Click Export in the top-right corner to download an Excel workbook.
- Residency Trends: This chart will show the Yearly Student Migration Analysis.
- Use the data settings on the far right to filter by Residency Status, Year, Direction, Grade, Type, and School.
Tip: Filter for incoming or outgoing to manage the large dataset. - Data is color-coded by district.
- Incoming data appears above the β0β line; outgoing data appears below.
- Utilize the tools at the bottom and right of the chart to modify, print, and share your view, as described in the Residency chart.
Bubble Chart: Visualizes the difference in the number of students gained and lost.
- Apply filters by Year and direction: Gain (Blue) or Loss (Orange).
- Bubble size correlates directly with the magnitude of student gain or loss.
- Utilize the sidebar and footer tools to modify, print, or share the view, consistent with the Residency Trends chart.
- Market Share: This chart may take a moment to load. It displays the percentage of school-age children residing within the district's taxable boundaries.
- Filter by Year using the settings on the right.
- The red circle represents your district, and the red line represents the average; data points above the line indicate higher enrollment, while those below indicate a loss to other districts.
- Click Print in the top right to print the view.
- Below the chart, you may view "Why it Matters," "Data Source," and "Data Table" sections.
- Click Export in the top right to download the data table as an Excel workbook.
