Here, you will learn to navigate the "Learn About Me" surveys.
Select Learn About Myself > Introduction in the left-hand navigation.
Career Planner may also be accessed from your High School and Beyond Application.
Preferences
The Preferences survey asks you to choose between two different work activities. Sixty-six (66) questions must be answered before you can view your results.
- Click "Preferences." Click the first "Preferences" in the list to get started. You can take the Preferences assessment up to four times,
- The survey will let you choose between two activities. Click on the preferred activity to automatically move to the next question.
- You can return to a question or skip to the next one by clicking the < and > buttons.
- You can track your progress with the progress bar. Click on any square to be taken to the corresponding question. Questions you have already answered are filled in with green.
- When you've answered all 66 questions and the progress bar is entirely green, click the “See Results” button to see your results.
View Your Results
- The Results page will rank your preferences in 12 career areas from high to low.
- Click "Generate Suggestions" at the bottom of the screen.
- The right side of the screen will list careers in your top three career areas. Click on hearts to save a career to your favorites, or click on a career name to learn more about it.
- To review or change your answers, click "Review Answers" on the Results page to return.
Print Your Results
- To print your results, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then click "Career Plan Preferences."
- An email will be sent when ready. "Click here" to download it.
Interests
The Interests survey asks you to rate your level of interest in various activities. There are 60 questions; all must be answered before you can view your results.
- Click "Interests." Click the first "Interests" in the list to get started. You can take the assessment up to four times,

- You can return to a question or skip to the next one by clicking the < and > buttons.
- You can track your progress with the progress bar. Clicking on any square will take you to the corresponding question. Questions you have already answered will be highlighted in green, orange, or red, depending on your responses.
- When you've answered all 60 questions and the progress bar is full, the "See Results" button will appear. Click “See Results” to see your results.
- The Results page will display your Top 3 Occupational Personality Types, with the most compatible type listed first.
- The right side of the screen will list careers in your top three career areas. Click on hearts to save a career to your favorites, or click on a career name to learn more about it.
- Click the "Learn about personality types" link to learn more about your results.
- To review or change your answers, click "Review Answers" to go back.’
Printing Your Results
To print your results, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then click "Career Plan Profiler." An email will be sent when ready. "Click here" to download it.
Skills
The Skills survey asks you to rate your interest in using different skills in your career. You will rate 42 skills in all.
- Click "Skills." Click the first "Skills" in the list to get started. You can take the assessment up to four times,
- Click and drag the six skills you like to use to the I Own This box.
- Click and drag 12 skills you like to use to the I Like These A Lot box.
- Click and drag 24 skills you like to use to the I Like These Some box.
- When you've filled in all three boxes, scroll down and click the “See Results” button.
View Your Results
- This page shows the Career Clusters (career fields) & Careers (specific careers) that closely match your skill set. In addition, you will also see your career Personality Types.
- Click "Generate Suggestions" at the bottom of the screen.
- To change your answers, click on "Review Answers" on the Results page to go back.
Review My Traits
Review My Traits synthesizes your Preferences and Interests survey results to identify your strongest career matches. Because each survey measures something different, the careers suggested by both are excellent places to begin your career research.
To visit Review My Traits, click "Learn About Myself" and "Review My Traits" in the left navigation bar.
Or simply click the ‘Review My Traits” button at the bottom of the surveys.
Review My Traits first shows your top three results for each survey. Next, Career Areas show your results for the Preferences Self-Assessment, Personality Types show your results for the Interests Self-Assessment, and Career Clusters show your results for the Skills Self-Assessment.
Click on hearts to have a career in your favorite field.
Next, click on any Career Area for a complete list of careers that match that area. | |

Finally, click any Career Clusters to view more information on the career cluster and to see a complete list of matching careers. | |
Matches based on results for all three Self-Assessments. Stars appear in the Preferences, Interests, and/or Skills columns if a career matches your Self-Assessment results. The strongest matches (careers with three stars) are listed first. Two-star and one-star matches follow these. The star will tell you which survey(s) suggested the career. |
