The Federal Race Code for 'American Indian/Native Alaskan' only identifies students who report this as their only Race. Once 'Hispanic/Latino' is selected, that is the Federal Race code those students are assigned. If a student is entered as 'American Indian/Native Alaskan' AND any other Race, they are then assigned the Federal Race code of 'Two or More Races.'

There are many different 'American Indian/Native Alaskan' and 'Race/Ethnicity SubTypes'.  In our Student Groups Application, we can identify ALL students who have selected ANY of these subtypes and create a student group of those students, regardless of their Federal Race code.

  1. Start in the Student Groups application in the Dashboards and Distributions bundle.
  2. Click Create New Group in the left navigation menu.
  3. You will default to the Details tab.
  4. Edit the Name and Description and click Save and Continue from the Save dropdown menu.

  1. Click the Add Filter dropdown menu and select Race / Ethnicity.

  1. In the popover window, click the Race or Ethnicity Subtype Select button.

  1. Click the Filter Search Results button on the top right.

  1. Click the Select dropdown menu in Ethnicity to the far right.
  2. Click the checkbox to the far left for American Indican/Native Alaskan.
  3. Click Set in the top right corner.

  1. Click the checkmark at the top left of the table to select all subtypes from the page. If needed, click the page arrow at the bottom center of the form to proceed to the next page and select the remaining subtypes.
  2. All selected subtypes should now be rendered at the bottom of the window. Click Apply in the top right corner when finished.

  1. You should now see the subtypes in the filter form.
  2. Click the Add Filter button in the top right corner.

  1. Click on the circle labeled A to select these students; the circle will change from gray to blue.

  1. Click Save in the top right corner.
  2. You will now have a student group of your district's American Indian or Native Alaskan students of any subtype.

  1. Click the Members tab at the top of the page to see a table view of the included students.

  1. Click the Data Table Actions & Options gear in the top right corner to filter, arrange, order, and download a spreadsheet of these students.

  1. To the far left of the student, select one or more checkmarks, click the Table Actions gear, and, if necessary, choose Remove Selected Students.
