The School Data Risk Indicator Viewer is designed to help users efficiently identify student risk levels.
Understanding Risk Indicators
- Risk Value: A numerical value calculated based on the configuration of the indicator index. Color-coded green/yellow/red, indicating low/medium/high risk.
- Risk Level: A labeled description (e.g., low, medium, high) corresponding to the Risk Value, providing context without showing the raw numbers.Â
- Start by navigating to your district's Homeroom Dashboard http://[yourdistrict}.schooldata.netÂ
- Click the Action Gear in the top right corner to quickly access the Risk Indicator Viewer. Alternatively, scroll down the dashboard until you locate the Risk Indicators Viewer.
- Start in the Risk Indicator Launcher tab and click Start Here, Pick a Student Group.
- Ensure the correct School Year is selected (default is the current school year).
- Choose a student group from the provided list.
- My Groups: Custom-created groups. Users may find further directions here:Â Student Groups

Shared Groups: Automatically shared groups.
- District-WideÂ
- School-Specific: Additional filters for school, grade, activity, class, and teacher are available.
- Select the group to the right using the plus “+” icon and click Add Student Groups.
- You will now be prompted to Now Do This - Select a Risk Indicator.Â
- Click the checkmark to the left of the Risk Indicator, then click Apply. For more options, use a broad student group.

- Now, you will be prompted to select View Risk. Your view will depend on whether/how your district has customized its viewer. In addition, risk indicators will only deliver interfaces, functionality, and data corresponding to your role.
- You will see the calculated Risk Value for the selected group.
- Click on a student’s name to open a detailed spotlight view of that student.
- Hover over the indicator’s title for descriptions.
- Click into cells for expanded details.
- You will see a list of tabs across the top of the container. Hover over the tab for the full title.
RISK INDICATOR SUMMARY
- The Risk Indicator Summary is a default view that provides an overview of risk levels.Â
- Click on student numbers or percentages to see the list of group members.
- Use the Screen View Actions & Options Gear to switch to the Risk Detail View for more granular data.
- There is a Risk Index tab for elementary, middle, and high school students. Each district is customizable.
- Click the magnifying glass next to a student’s name to access their profile.
- Each student’s Risk Value shows their risk compared to the total possible risk per term/grade.
- Hover over the indicator’s title for the indicator’s Description Tool Test.
- Click into a cell to expand the details of the indicator. A table will display additional information (e.g., classes with failing grades) if additional details are available.
- Again, use the Screen View Actions & Options Gear to bring up different display and download options.
- Change views or focus on specific risk types using the arrows to open menu options. Here, you can also modify student groups and time frames.
Below are examples of how risk indicators can be represented at different grade levels.Â
