DAILY ATTENDANCE TERMS EXPLAINED
Number Of Days Enrolled - The time elapsed between the actual starting date and the student’s last day of physical attendance.
Average Daily Attendance - The total days of student attendance divided by the total days in the regular school year.
Average Daily Absence - The total days of student absence divided by the total days in the regular school year.
Sum Of Effective Daily Attendance - The sum of the effective ‘daily attendance’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Absence - The sum of the effective ‘daily absence’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
*An effective daily absence example would be:
The student is enrolled in 6 elements(periods, classes). They were absent from 1 of those elements. Their effective daily absence for that day was .1667, indicating they were absent for 16.67% of the elements they were enrolled in. Summing this number over a period of time adds up the “pieces” of a day that a student was absent. For example, if this same student were absent from 1 element on five (5) other days, they would have a sum of the effective daily absence of 1.000, indicating that they have now been absent for the equivalent of 1 absence for every element they are enrolled in (or one full “day”).
Sum of Effective Daily Excused Absent - The sum of the effective ‘daily excused absence’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Unexcused Absent - The sum of the effective ‘daily unexcused absence’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Other Present - The sum of the effective ‘daily other present’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Other Absent - The sum of the effective ‘daily other absent’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Tardy - The sum of the effective ‘daily tardy’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Excused Tardy - The sum of the effective ‘daily excused tardy’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Unexcused Tardy - The sum of the effective ‘daily unexcused tardy’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Sum of Effective Daily Other Tardy - The sum of the effective ‘daily other tardy’ for each element, subject to the calculation method given in the configuration.
Number of Tardies - The count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record tied to the element was flagged as “tardy”
Number of Excused Tardies - The count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record was flagged as “excused tardy”
Number of Unexcused Tardies - The count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record was flagged as “unexcused tardy”
Number of Other Tardies - The count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record was flagged as “other tardy”
*PLEASE NOTE* There are five (5) attendance flags for each attendance type: CountAsAbsence, CountAsTardy, CountAsExcused, CountAsUnexcused, and CountAsOther. These flags are independent of each other and can be used simultaneously on the same attendance type. If a student's attendance record is labeled as attendance type 1, and attendance type 1 has a flag for Count as Tardy, count as unexcused, or count as other, that student will then have a “1” in the number of tardies, the number of unexcused tardies, and the number of other tardies. A record with no type attached to it indicates “present.”
Number of Excused Absences - The count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record was flagged as “unexcused absence”
Number of Unexcused Absences - The count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record was flagged as “excused absence”
Number of Other Absences - The count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record was flagged as “other absence”
Number of Other Present - As stated, the different AttendanceTypes can have each flag turned on/off. This was district-specific customization. This particular attendance type was set to CountAsAbsence = False, CountAsTardy = False, and CountAsOther = True. It would then give a student attendance record with this type +1 element “other present.”
This is the count of elements in a given timespan where an attendance record was flagged as “other present.”
