Student Spotlight Schedule
The Schedule widget usually appears on a Student's Spotlight tab. It is designed to help educators know where a student ‘should’ be during the school day in case they need to be contacted. It will also give an educator an idea of a student’s course load as it displays the student's course schedule for the current school year, as well as other supplemental information. Please note, the Schedule widget does not show 'dropped' classes.
Courses are shown in a chart by class grading term and period. Each course is displayed in a class ‘block’
At the top of the block you’ll see the Term displayed; the period and the days the class meets are also shown along with the room number the class meets in. If you hover over the room information, you’ll also see the school the room is associated with. This information will help educators locate a student at any given time throughout the school day.
The course name is also displayed as well as the course code, and the teacher’s name. The teacher’s name is a link to more information about the teacher, in case they need to be reached as well.
Supplemental information includes grades and credits which you’ll see along the bottom of the block.
The current grade book grade for the class is displayed, notice the 'Cur:' before the grade. If you hover over the grade you’ll see midterm grades for the class, if they have been posted.
Once the final grade is 'posted', the class term grade replaces the current gradebook grades and is no longer designated as 'Cur:'.
And last, but not least, in the bottom right of the class block you’ll see the credits available for the class.
A note on where this data originates in Skyward SIS:
The class final and mid term grades come from Skyward's posted grades in the student's course history. Teachers must post grades from their Skyward gradebook in order for grades to appear in the course history. Keep in mind that teachers (counselors and anyone else with access to a student's grade history) are free to change grades after they have been posted. While this doesn’t happen often, it can happen.
The data for the Gradebook Viewer widget comes from Skyward's Gradebooks.
These "buckets", gradebook grades and course history grades, are two completely separate sets of data we receive from Skyward. Since they are separate buckets please do not expect them to have the exact same data at all times
