How to Create a custom Four Year Plan Template
*You will need FYP Data Admin permissions. Please reach out to your District Administrator and School Data Solutions to see if you are eligible for these permissions.
*Additional Information:*
We will create a new Template for each Graduating Year (we have the ability to duplicate Templates, so you need only to create one template and then copy it for the remaining Graduating Years.) You can also create as many Templates as you’d like.
- [district].schooldata.net/v2/high-school-and-beyond/#/four-year-planning/educator
- Left Hand Navigation: Click Tab - Data Admin
4.) Click: Four Year Plan Templates
5.) Top right corner Click: Create New Four Year Templates
7.) Name: Name the template and add the Graduating Year to make it easier to find if edits need to be made. (Ex: District Graduating Class of 2025)
8.) “Is Active box” (mark this after you’ve finished building the template, that way students will only be able to access it when it’s ready.)
9.) Graduation Year: Select year to start with (Ex: 2025)
10.) School: Add school you are building the template for
11.) Click: Save and Continue
12.) Manage Grade Levels >> Click: Add Grade Level (Now we’re going to add a record for each grade level)
13.) Grade Level: (Ex) 9
14.) School: Same school selected earlier
15.) Number of Rows: Think of this as the number of Periods or classes (Example: Semester based schools generally have 6 rows.)
16.) Class Term Type: Select your term type, Semester, Trimester, Quarter, etc.
17.) Click: Add
18.) Repeat steps 6-17 for remaining Grade Levels (should look similar to screenshot)
19.) (Top right corner) Click: Next
20.) Click: Add Slot Class Term (we are going to add a Slot Class Term for EVERY GRADE and EVERY TERM TYPE. This means we will have two slots in Row 1, one slot for Semester 1, one slot for Semester 2.)
21.) Grade Level: 9th Grade
22.) Slot/Period: 1
23.) Class Term: Semester 1 of 2
24.) Graduation Requirements Summary Group: Select your Subject (Ex: English)
25.) Slot Class Term Type: this is optional. If you’d like additional text to display next to your Subject, you can enter the text here. (Ex: Health and Fitness - PE)
26.) Course Restrictions: (This is a retired feature)
27.) Default Course: (Example) ENG100 . (This is also optional. The idea is that if we leave this field BLANK, then students will click on the subject and see all of the courses for that subject offered at their school to their grade level. If we add a Course Code to this section, then the student will see this Suggested Course and not necessarily have to pick one themselves. Please keep in mind the course is a suggestion, so if the students do not like the preselected course they can deselect it and choose a different course.)
28.) Requires AP/IB: XXX
30.) Click: Add
31.) Every time you Add a new Slot Class Term you need to REFRESH your Preview
32.) Now that we have Semester 1 for First “Period”, let’s create Semester 2
33.) Click: Add Slot Class Term
34.) Grade Level: 9
Slot Period: 1
Class Term: Semester 2 of 2
Graduation Requirement: English
(Don’t forget to REFRESH your preview)
35.) Repeat steps 20-30 for ALL Grade Levels/Slot Class Terms/Semesters
36.) Go to the Details tab to mark this Template as “Active.”
