INTRODUCTION
Finding the exact Assessment you would like to view in Homeroom can sometimes be challenging. Understanding how assessments are structured and named in the system can help you find what you want.
TERMINOLOGY
The first thing to establish is the terminology around Assessments used in the system.
Assessment Test Name: This is the full name of the test. A common convention is to have the test name include the following elements:
- Test Name
- Subject
- Administration
- Grade Level
Assessment Test Label: This may be a shorter or abbreviated version of the test name and is what typically displays on Homeroom Dashboards
Test Family: This is the test “group” that an assessment belongs to and can be used to help narrow results or locate a specific assessment
Parent Assessment: When an assessment has strands, this is the overall score or main test that the strands are nested under
LOCATING AN ASSESSMENT
When searching for a specific assessment to view, keep in mind the following:
- The Student Group you select will limit the assessments you have available to launch
- Use the Test Family and Subject fields to narrow the results
- Search boxes will return only results that match exactly what you type, so Gr 1, Gd1, Gd 1, Grd 1, and Grade 1 will all get different results - try simply “1.”
- See the attached list of common assessment test names and labels used for those assessments uploaded by SDS (Note that if your district loads assessments, naming conventions in your district could differ from this list)
