DOWNLOAD OPTIONS
Users will find download options on each Homeroom Dashboard screen view in the Screen View Actions and Options gear at the right.
Download options are in the middle of the menu and will vary based on the type of screen view they are associated with. For example, we see two possibilities for this chart-type screen view: Download Chart and Validation Workbook.
Download Chart or Download as a Report
Downloading a Chart or a Report will result in a PDF version of the screen view.
- The chart will include just the chart itself.
- The report will contain a header and multiple pages to display all the enclosed information.
Download Data Table
Downloading a Data Table will be an Excel document containing the information from the screen view.
Download Validation Workbook
Downloading a Validation Workbook will provide the user with a spreadsheet with multiple tabs, allowing users to dig into all the various pieces of data coming together to form the screen view you are looking at. For data geeks only!
There is a Print All option in the Dashboard Actions & Options gear on the right side at the top of both the dashboards and containers.
Print All will open a new window where all the containers on this dashboard or spotlight will be listed. From here, the user can select items they would like included in their print using the checkmarks. Click Toggle All Selections to uncheck all the views and choose the ones you want to print.
Print All Reports (default) creates a zip file that, when opened, contains a PDF for each container chosen and a PDF that combines all the data into a single document.
Print Only Combined Report creates a single PDF that combines all the data for each container chosen for print.
Once you’ve made your choices, click OK. You will receive an email with the requested reports.
HOW DOWNLOADS WORK
When you click on “download,” an in-app notification will appear at the top of the screen, indicating your download is queued and being generated. Users may continue to browse the application while it runs.
If the user continues working in Homeroom, they will see a pop-up notification appear at the top right when their download is ready.
The user will also receive an email notification after their download is prepared. This is handy if the user gets interrupted or the download takes some time to generate. The email will contain a link to download their item. Accessing downloads from email will require the user to log back into Homeroom Dashboards.
ACCESSING DOWNLOADED FILES
The system keeps a record of a user’s downloaded files. If a user dismisses the in-app notification and deletes the email link but would still like to access a file they created, they can access it by going to their username in the top right corner and clicking the bell.
Clicking on the bell will open a window they can review, filter, and search.
Selecting the Action Gear in the top right corner or the selected file will produce more filters and an option to download.
