HOMEROOM DASHBOARDS
Homeroom Dashboards - Downloading Data
There are many opportunities to download the different data sets available to view on Homeroom Dashboards. This article will outline the different ways and show the user the steps needed to access their downloaded files.
Download Options
On each Homeroom Dashboards screen view, users will find download options in “Screen view Actions and Options” accessed by clicking the gear at the right of that screen view.
Download options are located in the middle of the menu, and will vary based on what type of screen view they are associated with. For this chart type screen view we see two options: “Download Chart” and “Validation Workbook.”
For this assessment set screen view, we see three options: “Download as a Report, ” “Download as Data Table” and “Download Validation Workbook.”
Download Chart or Download as a Report
Both of these downloads will result in a PDF version of the screen view. The chart will include just the chart itself, while the Report will include a header, and possibly multiple pages to display all of the included information.
Download Data Table
This download will be an Excel document containing the information from the screen view.
Download Validation Workbook
This download will provide the user with a spreadsheet with multiple tabs. This type of download will allow users to dig into all the various pieces of data that are coming together to form the screen view you are looking at. For data geeks only!
Print All
At both the top of dashboards and the top of spotlights, there is a “print all” option located in the “Dashboard Actions & Options” gear on the right hand side.
Clicking on “Print All” will open a new window, where all of the containers on this dashboard or spotlight will be listed. From here, using the blue check marks to the left of each screen view, the user can select which items they would like to be included on their print. The output will be a PDF document.
How Downloads Work
When you click on “download” an in app notification will appear at the top of the screen that indicates your download is queued and being generated. Users may continue to browse in the application while it runs.
If the user continues working in Homeroom, they will see a pop up notification appear at the top right when their download is ready.
The user will also receive an email notification as soon as their download is ready. This is handy in case the user gets interrupted or the download takes some time to generate. The email will contain a link the user can click to download their item. Accessing downloads from email will require the user to log back into Homeroom Dashboards.
Accessing Downloaded Files
The system keeps a record of all of a user’s downloaded files. So, if a user dismisses the in app notification and also deletes the email link, but would still like to access a file they created, they can get to it by going to the waffle icon in the top right and selecting SchoolData.net Dashboard icon.
Next, click on “Files” on the left hand navigation menu. Here users will see a list of all the files they have generated and can easily download or delete them using the icons at the far right.
