** We strongly recommend designating just one or two people familiar with your district's student management software to maintain FYP course information. **
Assigning career paths to courses allows students to find courses that will fulfill their Personalized Pathway credit requirements and support their specific post-secondary goals. Students can search for courses by career path on the All Courses page.
Method 1: Web Form
This method is best used when you're assigning career paths to one or two courses.
- Log into Data Admin: https://[district_name].schooldata.net/admin
- Note: Special permissions are needed to access Data Admin and the Four Year Planning Admin module within. You will need approval from an administrator (principal, program director, etc.) and your district's Homeroom data admin. For more information, contact your School Data Solutions representative or email support@schooldata.net.
- Go to "Four Year Planning Admin" and then "Assign FYP Career Paths to FYP Courses".
- In the pop up window, you will see a list of career paths. Click the career path you wish to assign to a course. For example, if you were adding an Accounting course, you might click "Finance".
- Click the "done"
button.
- You will see two lists of course codes appear. The list on the right shows courses already assigned to that career path (if there are none, it will be blank), and the left shows courses that are not.
- In the search box over the left-side list, type in the course code.
- Click the course's "plus sign"
button to assign the career path to it.
- NOTE: Your changes are saved automatically when you make them.
- If the course supports more than one career path (for example, an Accounting course might also be useful to students pursuing a Business Management & Administration career path), click the "setup"
button and repeat steps 3-7.
- When you are done assigning career paths to courses, click the "close"
button.
Method 2: Upload .XLSX (Excel spreadsheet)
This method is best for assigning multiple career paths to multiple courses all at once.
We strongly recommend contacting your School Data Solutions representative or support@schooldata.net for supplemental training in using this method.
- Download the blank upload template at the bottom of this page and open it.
- Go to "Four Year Planning Admin" and then "FYP Career Paths".
- Find the first career path you'll be assigning to courses. Copy and paste the values in the following columns to the blue matching columns in your blank upload template:
- Career Path ID (ex. 4)
- Career Path Label (ex. FHS Diploma: English)
- In the "Course Code" column in your blank upload template, enter the course code of the first course for that career path.
- To assign more courses to the same career path, enter the course code in the cell directly below the previous course code. Each course code should have its own row.
- Find your second career path (if applicable), and copy the same information in the FIRST BLANK ROW beneath the last course code. Repeat steps 5-6.
- When you've filled out your template, it's time to upload it. Go back to the Data Admin home page.
- Click "Uploads" and then "Upload Data File".
- Click "Choose File" and choose your upload file.
- Click "Submit".
- In the "Review Uploads" section, wait for the Status column to say "Validated - Success".
- If the Status column says "Validated - Failed", your spreadsheet may be missing required information or the layout may be incorrect. Click "Validation Report" to download a PDF file and attach it to an email to support@schooldata to request assistance.
- Click the "Approve"
button in the Actions column.
- When the Status column says "Loaded", your upload is complete.
