The Performance Level Set allows users to review student assessment data even if the scores are on different scales. The “normalized” performance level data setting changes a raw score into a performance level score. Each performance level score is calculated separately based on the scale of that score. NOTE: the normalized score will indicate the value of the score in relation to the range. For example, if a 267 score is halfway between the Level 2 cut score and the Level 3 cut score, the normalized score will be 2.5.
ENTIRE ASSESSMENT SET VIEW NORMALIZED
Navigate to a container on the Homeroom Dashboard with Assessment Sets for students. Note the range of scores is all different for different tests.
To normalize the scores, select the Action Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner and select Display Options. Scroll to the bottom and select Performance Level Scores.
The assessment set for the entire student group is now normalized.
INDIVIDUAL STUDENT VIEW
Navigate to a container on the Homeroom Dashboard with Assessment Sets for students.
Hover over the student of interest’s name, and gear will appear. Hover over the gear, and a pop-up will appear. Select Launch Student Assessment Set Scores.
The initial Student Assessment Set Scores Chart will appear with scores displaying their original score value. Because the scores are on different scales, the chart will typically look like the following.
To normalize the scores, select the gear in the chart’s upper right corner, select Data Settings and click the box for Performance Level Score, then select Reload.
A new chart will render for the student with normalized Performance Level scores.
NOTE: The normalized score will indicate the value of the score in relation to the range. For example, if a 267 score is halfway between the Level 2 cut score and the Level 3 cut score, the normalized score will be 2.5.
