Classroom is a standards-based gradebook and district assessment platform which integrates fully with Homeroom. They share things like student groups, student demographics, school settings, and user account settings. Assignments or assessments available in Classroom, can also be linked to Homeroom. Students' results in Classroom are then available for display in Homeroom. They are visible in the:
- Assessments widget
- Assessments filter of the Student Groups widget
- Data Extracts involving assessments
- As part of Risk Indicators if configured
Your district data administrator must designate a Classroom assignment or assessment as visible in Homeroom. Once configured, the results of the assessment or assignment are automatically updated each night. When necessary, a data administrator can update results manually.
Viewing Assessment or Assignment Results
To view a Classroom assignment or assessment which has been linked to Homeroom:
- Log in to Homeroom
- Go to the Assessments widget
- Select your student group
- Select the linked Classroom assessment (or assignment)
The first tab will display the overall results of the assignment or assessment. You can manipulate this as you would any other assessment; toggling performance levels on/off, creating groups of students, searching for students by name, or selecting and displaying the District View option which includes subgroup information.
However, there are two additional options for Classroom assessments linked to Homeroom. The Item Analysis by Assessment option and the Item Analysis by Learning Target view.
If you select the Item Analysis by Assessment option, you will see a question by question and student by student view. This display shows you how each student performed on each question; that is, whether or not the student met the standard, and what, if any, their score was for each question. Under each student's photo is a percentage of how they performed on the entire assessment. The students are listed alphabetically by last name from left to right.
The view displays the type of Classroom question the students encountered:
- SA = Scored Answer
- TF = True/False
- MC = Multiple Choice
- MS = Multi-Select
You will also see summaries, both by number and percent, of how that student group performed on each question overall.
Finally, you can mouse over, or roll-over the information icon on any question or standard to see the text of the question and any images.
If you select the initial assessment tab, which shows the overall assessment score by performance level, you can choose the alternate item analysis option, Item Analysis by Learning Target. The primary view here is by standard. It displays how each student performed on each standard attached to the assessment.
Some of the same statistics are displayed, like the question type, and the percentage and number of how that student group performed on each standard.
You can expand each standard to see its detail. You can also mouse over the information icon to see the questions which used the standard. There can be more than one question per standard.
Downloading and Printing Assessment or Assignment Results
Because of the quantity of data contained in this view, there is no direct print option. You must first download the results and then use a third-party application, like Excel, to provide printing options.
To download the results of the assessment or assignment select the Download this widget's data option from the tool bar. Each option, Item Analysis by Assessment or Learning Target, will give you different workbooks with multiple worksheets which display the question view or the alternate learning target view of the assessment results. You can open and manipulate these XLSX file types in Excel. From Excel, you can print the entire workbook or individual worksheets.
