The Assessments Widget is located on your Dashboard. It shows assessment results for groups of students. Simply choose a student group to get a list of assessments, and then choose an assessment to see the assessment results.
Choose a Student Group...
Choose the group of students you wish to view information for from either the My Student Groups or the Student Groups Tabs .
My Student Groups
A list of groups based on your class rosters and groups that you have previously saved. Homeroom automatically creates groups based on your current class rosters. These cannot be edited. You can create and save your own unique groups, from the Student Groups widget. Click here for more information about Student Groups.
A form to generate groups based on enrollment filters. There are four descending levels of enrollment filters: School Year, School, Subject, and Teacher. Each time you make a selection from one of the filters, the other filters are updated to reflect your choice. Continue to add filters until the group you want is generated. To remove a filter, click the 'eye' icon next to the filter level that you want refreshed.
Choose an Assessment or Set...
After choosing a student group, the next step is to choose an individual assessment or a set of assessments. So the full assessment history of the group is available, any assessment taken by any student during any school year is shown. If a student has taken an Assessment multiple times, the highest score is shown. ** Please note If you would like to filter to just the assessments taken within a given year, after your student group is selected, select the calendar widget tool in the top right hand corner and select the year you would like to see. Also, the list defaults to state and district assessments, however if you would like this changed to adding school and/or class based assessments as the default, please contact email@example.com,
There are three tabs:
Assessments: a list of individual assessments
Assessment Sets: a list of assessments grouped by subject and then grade-level
My Assessment Sets: a list of previously created user-defined assessment sets
The Assessments tab lists individual assessments. Simply choose an assessment to see the results for all students in the group that took the assessment. If an assessment has strands, and you would like to see just the strand results, first open the assessment by clicking the arrow to the left of the assessment name and then choose the strand. For help finding an assessment, you can filter based on the subject or search for the assessment's name using the Filter Assessments box.
You may also filter assessments by family, grade level, subject, or scope. Select the black arrow to the right of the Filter Assessments box to expand or collapse these pre-populated filter groups.
After choosing your assessment (or strand), the students from the group that took the assessment and their scores appear in a bar chart. Performance Levels (if applicable) are included on the chart and are color coordinated. Click the Print tool in the widget toolbar to print the assessment results.
If the assessment (or strand) is scored Met/Not Met, then the results are indicated by a green check icon for Met or a red X icon for Not Met.
You may open multiple single assessments at one time for a single group. Simply select the Assessment drop down and choose another single assessment. The previous assessment tabs will remain visible in the widget and you can switch between the open tabs by selecting them. The more assessments you choose the smaller the labels will become. However, you can only print the assessment tab that is currently selected, not all open assessments.
Students are grouped by their performance levels. Hover over the Performance Levels... menu button in the upper right of the widget to see the performance level toggle buttons. Click a performance level button to temporarily turn on or off the visibility of that group of students. Click the Information button to get information about the group. Click the Add button to save those students into a static Student Group. In the dialog that appears you have the choice to save a new Student Group or add the students to an already existing group.
There is a magnifying glass icon , or spotlight, to the left of each student's name. Select it to view the student's Quick Profile.
When you hover over a student's name an Add button appears to the right of the name. Click it to add that student to a Currently Selected group, which will display as an additional Performance Level. Click the Minus button to remove the student from the currently selected group. Click the Clear Selected button to remove the group entirely.
The Progress Monitoring option displays on a Single Assessment view when an Assessment has been setup* with the option and multiple scores for the Assessment selected exist.

Highest or Latest View
If the assessment displays the highest or latest button, this means you can toggle between seeing the highest score received or the latest score received for that particular assessment.
Sub-Group Comparisons View
There is a Sub-Group Comparisons button above any assessment bar chart. The first comparison shown will be by school. Click the Group By button and choose other options to see district aggregates by subgroups. The options should include Genders, Languages, Federal Race codes, or any services the districts has enabled.
Click the # and % buttons under the Performance Levels... button to switch between seeing the number or the percentage of students in each level.
Click the Information or Add buttons on any performance level section (or on the bar chart) to see more information about the students comprising the group, or to save those students to a static student group.
Click the Print tool in the widget toolbar to print the district aggregates. Save the district aggregates as a file via the Download tool .
From the District View tab, select a school to see that school's aggregates. Toggle aggregates, see more information, or save student groups as you would in the overall District View tab. Click the Print tool in the widget toolbar to print the school aggregates. Save the school aggregates as a file via the Download tool .
From the School View tab you can drill further into the aggregates for individual teachers, however, you must have the correct permissions. Click the teachers name to open their tab. Hover to the left of any teacher name to delete them from the view.
Toggle aggregates, see more information, or save student groups as you would in the overall District View tab. Click the Print tool in the widget toolbar to print the aggregates. Save the teacher aggregates as a file via the Download tool .
Item Analysis Charts
Item Analysis charts display student performance on individual test questions and learning targets. When the data is available, two buttons will appear next to the District View button. Select the Item Analysis by Assessment to view student responses to questions or select Item Analysis by Learning Target to view student responses by state standard.
Item Analysis By Assessment
Click the black arrow to the left of the assessment name to expand it and see the questions. The first column has the question number. The chart is ordered by question number. Click the Information button to see the question and answer information if publishable. The second column has the learning target code (standard). Click the Information button to see the target's name and description. The third column has the number and percentage of students scoring a correct answer. The fourth column has the type of question.
The top row shows the student's picture. Hover over it to see their name, and click it to see their Quick Profile. Directly below the student's picture is the percentage of correct answers and a performance level color. Listed below is whether or not they got the question correct. Correct answers are marked by a green check icon, and incorrect answers are marked by a red X icon. Click the icon for more information.
Item Analysis By Learning Target
The Item Analysis By Learning Target chart has two sections. On the left is the learning target data, and on the right is answer data.
Learning Target Data
Each learning target is listed. There may be multiple questions for each learning target. Click the learning target to expand it and see the questions. Each question has four columns of data. The first column has the question number. Click the Information button to see the question and answer information. The second column has the beginning of the question. The third column shows the percentage and fraction of students that answered the question correctly. The fourth column has the type of question.
The top row shows the student's picture. Hover over it to see their name, and click it to see their Quick Profile. Directly below the student's picture is the percentage of correct answers for the learning target and the performance level color. Listed below is whether or not they answered an individual question correctly. Correct answers are marked by a green check icon, and incorrect answers are marked by a red X icon. Click the icon for more information.
The Assessment Sets tab shows assessments grouped by subject and then by grade level. Simply choose an assessment set to see the results.
Assessment Set Results
After choosing an assessment set, the students and their scores appear in a columnar chart. There is a column for each assessment (only 10 can be viewed at one time) and the scores are color-coded according to the performance levels (if applicable) associated with the assessment. If there are more than 10 assessments a pop-up message will appear indicating how many assessments are in the set (modify those being displayed via the Edit Active Assessments button).
Assessments are ordered by the number of student scores, that is, the assessment with the most student scores is on the far left.
Click the Print tool in the widget toolbar to print the assessment set results. Save the set results as a file via the Download tool .
Click and drag the line above the top row to resize the header. Double-click to toggle between maximized and minimized.
Click the Sort By Student Name button to sort in alphabetical order. Search for students by entering their name in the Filter by Student Name field .
When you hover over a student's name an Add button appears to the right of the name. Click it to add that student to a Currently Selected group, which will display as an additional Performance Level on any selected assessment. Click the Minus button to remove the student from the currently selected group. Click the Clear Currently Selected button to remove the group entirely. Should you want to make a static group out of the currently selected students, chose the assessment of interest, then from its Performance Level button, chose Currently Selected.
Click the magnifying glass next to the student's name to open the student's QuickProfile.
Selecting an Assessment
To view a single assessment from the assessment set, select its column. The selected assessment's name appears in blue in the upper left-hand corner. Click the link. A new tab will appear next to the assessment set containing that single assessment.
Students are grouped by their performance levels. Click the Performance Level button to filter out any group, and click it again to remove the filter. Click the Information button to get information about that group. Click the Add button to save those students into a static group; you can either save as a new group or add to an existing group.
Advanced Ordering & Sorting
Advanced Ordering & Sorting tools work on single assessments with strands or assessment sets. If you are looking an an assessment set, by default, the assessment with the most scores for the student group is listed first (far left), then the assessment with the second most scores, and on to the assessment with the least number of scores being listed last (far right). And by default, the scores are ordered alphabetically by student last name for a single assessment or an assessment set.
Select the Advanced Ordering & Sorting button to change the way in which the visible assessments in a set, including assessments with strands, are ordered and sorted. Drag the assessments or strands sequentially left or right to the desired order. Click "sort..." under any assessment label to sort that test or strand by scores, either ascending or descending.
Please note that this level of ordering and sorting is not permanently saved. If you would like to save the order of assessments in a set for a student group, see Edit Active Assessments below.
By default, all assessment scores are listed for the students in the group. Click the Advanced Filtering button to change this. Hide scores belonging to an assessment's performance level by clicking its icon. You can hide all performance levels for an assessment to completely remove the assessment. Or, choose the All Standards Not Met Levels or the All Standards Met Levels to see either all "Met" or all "Not Met" scores. Use the Match All toggle to see students who have scores on every assessment at the selected performance level(s). Use the Match Any toggle to see students who have at least one score on any assessment at the selected performance level(s).
Please note that the filtering is not saved. If you would like to save which assessments are in a set for a student group, please see Edit Active Assessments below.
Once you have filtered the students as desired, you may add those students to a static Student Group. Select the Add to Group button in the upper-left of the widget.
Edit Active Assessments
If you would like to customize what assessments or assessment strands appear for a student group, click the Edit Active Assessments button .
- Click the empty circles in the left column to add assessments or strads to the view (you may only display 10 assessments at a time).
- Click the red circles in the right column to remove assessments or strands from the view.
- Click and drag to rearrange the order of assessments or strands to view.
My Assessment Sets
The My Assessment Sets tab lists assessment sets that you have uniquely created and saved. Selecting a set shows how the selected student group did on those assessments. For information on displaying, sorting, and filtering your assessment sets see the Assessment Sets section above. The same capabilities apply.
Creating an Assessment Set
If you have never created an Assessment Set before, selecting the My Assessment Sets tab will show this display:
Click the Edit button to the right of the tab to open the My Assessment Sets Manager.
Click the New Set button .
Give your set a name, and click the Save & Edit button . Then add individual assessments, parents or strands, to your set. You may search for assessments by name using the Search for Assessments filter in the right column. Once located, click the Add button to add them to your set. You may also remove them from the left column by selecting the Minus button. Once your set is complete, click the Back to Sets button . The assessment set will then be visible under the My Assessment Sets tab.
Modifying an Assessment Set
You can edit the name, modify the assessments, or delete your saved assessment sets by clicking the Edit button to the right of the My Assessment Sets tab to open the My Assessment Sets manager.
First, click the assessment set that you want to modify. Then select the Actions button. Make a selection from the list of available options.
If you want to add more assessments to the set, select Add Assessments to this Set, and then search for and select the additional assessments.
To remove assessments, select the Remove Assessments option and select the Minus button for each assessment you want to remove.
If you want to change the name of the assessment set, select Change Name. Click in the name box and type in a new name, then select Done .
To delete the assessment set entirely, select the Delete this Set option, and then confirm.
If you want to copy the assessment set to other users/roles, select the "Copy Assessment Set to other users." This is a copy; the modifications to the copy will not affect the original.
Downloading Assessment Information
To download the results of a single assessment or an assessment set to an external spreadsheet, select the Download tool from the widget toolbar. You will be presented with a set of toggles, or yes/no options. You can go with the default and select OK or you can choose which types of student information will be included with the assessment results; make your selections and then click OK.
Your choices are saved as a part of your user profile for the next time you wish to download assessment results.
If you don't wish to see the assessments widget you can click on the button inside the widget. To reenable the widget click on the button at the top of the page.
