Migrant Student Data, Recruitment and Support (MSDRS) Integration
What: Migrant data is now required to be reported in the MSDRS data system, which then reports it to CEDARS.
Why: Because the data is no longer required to be put into Skyward, districts asked SDS to migrate the data into Homeroom from the system it is now required to be in.
When: The data can be loaded as often as the district chooses, but it is recommended on a monthly basis as that is how often it is reported to CEDARS.
Who: The one or two people at the district who enter the data into MSDRS are suggested to be responsible for loading the data.
How: Data has to be downloaded from MSDRS, please see the attachment to get refresher instructions on how to extract the data from MSDRS.
Where: Once you have extracted the csv from MSDRS, navigate to the Admin >> uploads >> Upload 'MSDRS' Migrant Student Data Recruitment and Support Record.
Required Data:
- ssid
- qualifying move (date)
-priority
-enroll (date)
-withdraw recovered (date)
Options to enter:
1) You can enter in single student information via the tab.
2) OR you can upload the csv you downloaded from MSDRS via the tab.
** You'll notice that the csv from MSDRS has additional columns of data. That is fine to upload, the system will recognize the columns of data it needs as long as the column headers match eachother (which they should).
Student Spotlight: The student spotlight is available to turn on for individual students. This will display the required data which you can view and print.
Additional Information:
-Putting data into Skyward would be dual entering as Skyward doesn't report to Cedars (MSDRS reports to Cedars).
-Student must have moved one district to another or out of the country within the last three years to be considered Migrant.
-The MSDRS data system keeps track of ALL students residing in a school district 0-21 years of age who are migrant.
-Students are designated as a Priority for service if the student has moved within the last year, has not met state standards, or is at risk of dropping out. This Priority designation is determined by the person at the district entering the data into MSDRS.
