Purpose:
To add, edit and view Learning Standard Categories. These are the categories used to group Learning Standards. **The default categories for Common Core State Standards should never be edited, if your district has district specific categories that need to be edited, that can be done here.
Directions:
Log into the Admin at {YourDistirct}.schooldata.net/admin/ with your SchoolData.net username and password.
- navigate to the Classroom Admin category >> Learning Standards >> Learning Standard Categories (Element Table)

- some of the information contained in the element table includes:
- Id

Learning Standard Category
- Learning Standard Category Description
- Parent Learning Standard Category (and Id)
- Learning Standard Framework (and Id)
- Learning Standard Category Type (and Id)
- Learning Standard Category Is Active
- Learning Standard Category Ordinal
- add or Edit the information in a web form or via a .csv upload file

Web Form:
The web form is best used for small changes, or one or two additions.
- enter the Learning Standard Category
- this should be the name of the Learning Standard Category, the category helps to organize the learning standards
- enter the Learning Standard Category Description (optional)
- a description of the category
- e.g. the Learning Standard Category Description for the Learning Stand Category 'Geography' could be 'The student uses a spatial perspective to make reasoned decisions by applying the concepts of location, region, and movement and demonstrating knowledge of how geographic features and human cultures impact environments.'
- search for and select the Parent Learning Standard Category (optional)
- this allows for the nesting of learning standard categories, the parent being the category top category, while the learning standard that has a parent would come second to the parent
- select the Learning Standard Framework
- the overall framework for the learning standards, the default being 'Common Core State Standards' but district specific standards can be added
- e.g. 'VPS, Grades K to 5, Report Card Standards'
- select the Learning Standard Category Type (optional)
- this can be ignored
- select the option for Learning Standard Category Is Active (optional, defaults to 'True')
- enter the Learning Standard Category Ordinal (optional)
- this can be utilized to order the Categories on the Report Card
CSV Upload:
The .csv upload is best used for multiple changes or additions.
What you'll need:
- Learning Standard Category Id
- this can be found in the Admin - Classroom Admin >> Learning Standards >> Learning Standard Categories
- Learning Standard Framework Id
- this can be found in the Admin - Classroom Admin >> Learning Standards >> Learning Standard Frameworks
Directions:
- click the table actions button at the bottom of the window
- select 'download CSV template...' It will be named "TemplateForTable-LearningStandardCategories-[current date].csv".
- open the template in Excel. Leave the header row in tact.
- for each Learning Standard Category, enter the following information row by row, starting with the second row (note some fields are optional):
- Learning Standard Category (says it's optional, but it's not)
- Learning Standard Description (optional)
- Parent Learning Standard Category Id (optional)
- Learning Standard Framework Id
- Learning Standard Category Type Id (optional, and should be ingored)
- Learning Standard Category Is Active (optional - defaults to 'True')
- Learning Standard Category Ordinal (optional)
- save the template as a csv file again
- return to Homeroom Admin and select table actions, then upload.csv
- select the template you modified, and optionally give the file a label.
- click Upload
