Future Ready Skills

Purpose:

To view, add, edit and delete Future Ready Skills in the Future Ready Skills application.  This interface will also allow a user to edit other pieces of data surrounding Future Ready Skills.

Directions:

Log into the Admin at {YourDistirct}.schooldata.net/admin/ with your SchoolData.net username and password.

• navigate to the Future Ready Skill Admin category >> Future Ready Skills (Element Table)

• some of the information contained in the table includes:
• Id 
• Future Ready Skill
• Description
• Html Content
• Image Path
• Thumbnail Image Path
• Pull Quote
• Parent Future Ready Skill (and Id)
• Show on Home Page
• Show In Left Nav
• Color
• add or Edit the information in a web form or via a .csv upload file

Web Form:

The web form is best used for small changes, or one or two additions.

• enter the future ready skill
• this is the name of the skill
• enter the future ready skill description
• this is a short concise description of the skill 
• enter the future ready skill html content
• this is a longer description of the skill and contains html to allow for the visual display of the content
• enter the future ready skill image path
• this feature is the url where the image is stored.  This url must be publicly accessible.
• enter the future ready skill thumbnail image path
• this feature is the url where the image is stored.  This url must be publicly accessible.
• add pull quote text
• this is a quote from a student
• choose the parent future ready skill from the dropdown
• this will most likely be left blank
• choose the correct selection from the show on home page choices
• this will allow the application to determine if the skill should be displayed on the home page. Choose False if the skill should not be displayed. Choose True if it should be seen on the home page. The N/A is not applicable in this instance.

• add the future ready skill color
• this is a hex color code that is used for the color of the buttons on the individual skill page 

CSV Upload:

The .csv upload is best used for multiple changes or additions.

What you'll need:

• Hex Color Code 
• this can be given to you be the designer of the future ready skills icon, or it can be found on line (google 'Hex Color Code')

Directions:

1. click the table actions button at the bottom of the window
2. select 'download CSV template...' It will be named "TemplateForTable-FutureReadySkills-[current date].csv".
3. open the template in Excel. Leave the header row in tact.
4. for each skill, enter the following information row by row, starting with the second row (note some fields are optional):
   • Future Ready Skill (says optional, but it's not)
   • Future Ready Skill Description (optional) 
   • Future Ready Skill HTML Content (optional) 
   • Future Ready Skill Image Path (says optional, but it's not)
   • Future Ready Skill Thumbnail Image Path (says optional, but it's not)
   • Future Ready Skill Pull Quote (optional) 
   • Parent Future Ready Skill Id (optional) 
   • Change this header to read 'Parent Future Ready Skill' and add the Future Ready Skill in this cell 
   • Show On Home Page (optional) 
   • Show in Left Nav (optional) 
   • Future Ready Skill Color (says optional, but it's not)
5. save the template as a csv file again
6. return to Homeroom Admin and select table actions, then upload.csv
7. select the template you modified, and optionally give the file a label.
8. click Upload
