To allow the user to plan what courses to take to fulfill the requirements need to achieve their High School and Beyond goal. The tab displays the appropriate number of periods or slots per year, with the appropriate requirements to be met for the plan chosen. Some default courses may already be assigned per requirement. It also displays a list of all courses offered by the district, the courses a user has saved as favorites, and a list of the requirements for the different requirements.
|Unlocked Plans||Locked Plans|
For Four Year Plan (FYP) that is not locked, the tab is broken into two sides.
The right side shows the slots per year. The salmon colored slots show the requirements need to be fulfilled for the chosen plan. The green colored slots show the courses associated to the requirements underneath.
The left side shows the tab with the list of courses by default. The My Courses tab shows a list of the courses a user has saved as favorites. The Requirements tab shows a list of the different requirements per plan.
A user must fill all the slots in order to finish their plan. This is not a schedule, but a plan, so the user only needs to ensure the courses they plan to take during that year are associated to a slot in that year, not that they are in what the user might think is the appropriate 'period'.
To fill the slots, a user can choose courses from the All Courses tab or the My Courses and move them to a slot that fulfills the requirement.
For Four Year Plan (FYP) that is locked, the schedule is view only.
Select Course and Move to Slot:
On the All Courses or My Courses tab there are two ways a user find a course.
- can scroll through the list of courses to choose from.
- use the Search Courses field to search for the name of a course
- these are the courses the district has deemed appropriate for the FYP application, they may or may not be the same courses from the Student Information System, as this application is not used for scheduling, but for planning. That planning may include new courses the district plans to offer in the future.
Once the course is chosen the user can click and drag the course to the slot desired by using the move icon.
If the course fulfills the requirement the course will appear in the slot and the slot will turn green.
If the course does not fulfill the requirements an alert will display with the requirements listed e.g. 'The course you have selected cannot be placed here. The requirements for this class term are: .....'
If the course has a prerequisite that must be fulfilled before the course can be taken the prerequisite will be displayed to the user. The application does not enforce the prerequisite, but does have the user acknowledge there is one and allows the user to decide whether or not to add the course.
- click ok to acknowledge and return to find another course
- click Add Course to add the course to the plan
To find more information on a specific course a user can click the info icon on the All Courses or My Courses tab. It will display:
- course description
- prerequisites, if there are any
- credit type
- recommended grade level(s), if there are any
- homework hours per week, if there are any
For the user to easily find courses that will fulfill a requirement the user can click the filter icon
